E-scooter weekly review: September 28 to October 4, 2026

Weekly Review: September 28 to October 4, 2026. This week combines model checks, official list monitoring, and safety reports. This review consolidates the published articles and separates scheduled dates, measured values, and ongoing investigations. Price and delivery details are valid as of the time of testing for each individual article.
Models: Comparing variants before price
For the IO Hawk Mantis GT, the focus was on a shop date announced for November 10. A submitted ABE (type approval) application is not evidence of an already granted approval. Pre-ordering and the actual street-legal version remain separate issues.
The NAVEE ST5 Max check addresses the 749-euro offer at the time and the difference between advertised range and the German version. The NIU KQi 300X focused on the 539-euro offer and the still-pending exact classification of the X-variant in vehicle documentation. A similar name line in a list is not sufficient for this.
For the ePF-2 PRO, variants with and without a swappable battery were distinguished. The phrasing "from 699 euros" referred to the swappable battery version; the lower price of another variant should not be conflated with its equipment. Battery range and availability were also part of the price assessment for the VMAX VX5 PRO.
Today's F3 Pro D source comparison complements the purchasing perspective with ADAC measurements. 38.7 kilometers on the test bench and a manufacturer claim of 70 kilometers are not interchangeable everyday promises. The article also points out contradictory manufacturer footnotes and illustrates an explicitly calculated commute plan.
KBA and Austria: Note timing and category
In the ORBO report, the entry ESX3AE+ with P444 became visible again. A rediscovery is not automatically a new approval granted today. The official list status and our own time of retrieval answer different questions.
This afternoon, the KBA list was accessible again after retrieval errors in the morning. Comparison with our last successful baseline showed no added, removed, or changed lines among the 441 rows as of the September 28 list status. This is a list comparison, not a full audit of every model offered.
Since October 1, an Austrian amendment has affected certain e-mopeds and their traffic areas. The distinction from ordinary e-scooters remains critical. Those traveling cross-border should check vehicle class and country together rather than applying a rule from a neighboring country to Germany across the board.
Safety and controls: open cases remain open
The articles from Spabrücken and Salzgitter dealt with an accident involving minors and a summary of traffic checks, respectively. In Hanau, the focus was on an injured 17-year-old and a call for witnesses; in Hattingen, a serious accident involving a cyclist and an e-scooter. Individual reports do not document a general accident trend.
The Frankfurt report separates alcohol checks of a group from a separate fall. Today's article from Dudenhofen adds to the question of a retrofitted seat and the vehicle type. Police suspicions and preliminary technical classifications are not final verdicts.
What we are continuing to track
For next week, verified manufacturer dates, concrete German variant documentation, and substantial investigation updates remain relevant. Minor updates belong at the existing article address. Fit or product availability do not follow from a model report alone.
The additionally published September review offers the broader context. All 15 linked articles were checked for accessibility prior to this weekly review.
Note: Review of published articles, not a new confirmation of all offers at that time. Prices and delivery status may change; open approval, classification, and investigation issues remain open. Sources and details are in the individual articles.
