Weekly Review for September 21 to 27, 2026: This week, changes to the KBA list, safety issues, several model checks, and regulations for 2027 were covered in parallel. The following links lead to our respective articles with primary sources and the limitations of the data mentioned therein. A weekly review is not a list of events that occurred today.
Approval and Regulations
On September 21, we documented that four previously visible WeRoll and ORBO entries are missing from the current KBA list. The absence alone does not imply a revocation, nor does it allow for conclusions about every individual vehicle. Also important for riders: Our 2027 rule check separates future changes from the requirements currently in effect. Towards the end of the week, the police and the city of Witten announced a checkpoint operation for Monday, September 28; results are naturally not available before the event.
Product Safety and Accidents
The ADAC Test 2026 showed both highly rated scooters and two instances of handlebar breakage during the test. This is a specific finding regarding the tested vehicles, not a blanket statement about all models. Following the battery fire in Karlsruhe, the police reported three injured persons; product identity and the technical cause were still open at the time of the last review.
Other reports concerned a seriously injured senior citizen in Ibbenbüren and a seriously injured pedestrian in Bonn. In both cases, the respective police status is decisive; unclarified sequences of events are not established facts.
Inspections and Vehicle Technology
In Duisburg, the police reported a technically modified e-scooter reaching speeds of up to 45 km/h. The case shows why the approved vehicle configuration matters; it does not prove the frequency of tuning in general traffic. The inspection in Heuerßen involved a missing insurance sticker and ongoing investigations. Here, too, the rule applies: the individual case is not a general statistic.
Models and Purchase Decisions
We compared the five variants of the Xiaomi Scooter 6 series as well as the Egret-X series. For the Pure Air6 in Germany and the SoFlow SO4 PRO GT 2, we cross-referenced manufacturer prices and model names with the KBA status. The specific approval assignment must be verified for the vehicle; similar-sounding names are not sufficient. The Pure Escape Ultra Max was a foreign offer with a British price. No launch in Germany or German ABE (general operating permit) was derived from this.
What We Continue to Monitor
Remaining open, in particular, are the official explanation regarding the four missing KBA lines, a reliable cause for the Karlsruhe fire, results of the Witten operation, and specific documentation for individual model variants. As soon as primary sources provide substantial new information, we will update the relevant articles. This review is current as of September 27, 2026.
Note: The review summarizes our own linked articles from this calendar week. Data and manufacturer prices are subject to change. Police investigations and approval issues are described only based on the published, verified information available at the time.
