AI Note: This article was created and revised using AI based on our own test videos. The embedded videos document the rides and impressions of Survival Masters.

The Segway Ninebot F3 Pro exceeded our range expectations. During the unboxing, we were skeptical given the 477 Wh battery and roughly estimated 30 to 35 km. In the subsequent practical test, we covered over 40 km – with a rider weight of approximately 90 kg and summer temperatures of 32 °C. However, the scooter did become significantly slower toward the end.

This review combines our unboxing from June 5, 2025, with the range test from June 15, 2025. In addition to the results, we discuss the ride feel, brakes, charger, and a navigation function that disappointed us during this ride.

Segway F3 Pro: our test conclusion at a glance

  • Range: over 40 km in our documented ride; the last few kilometers were with reduced power.
  • Ride feel: handy, pleasantly suspended, and sufficiently powerful for our daily needs.
  • Operation: good display and a throttle we enjoy using.
  • Weaknesses: slow included charger, brakes on our unit that needed adjustment, and problems with the navigation at the time.
  • Test configuration: software modification present, speed increase switched off according to the video; cruise control and zero-start were enabled.

Unboxing: more compact than the Max G3, but well-equipped

When unboxing, the F3 Pro appears significantly more compact than the Ninebot Max G3. We like the understated design, the handlebar structure, and the TFT display. The combined twist/thumb throttle is also comfortable for us to operate. During the first short rounds, the scooter feels agile and easy to turn around.

We find the suspension to be sufficiently comfortable. Our impression is that the Max G3 offers a slightly smoother ride; however, this doesn't make the F3 Pro feel uncomfortable. The first laps do not replace a full comparison measurement, especially since we had not yet adjusted the tire pressure during the unboxing.

Two points are noticeable even before the first longer ride

The included charger is, at 1.3 A, significantly slower than we had hoped. If you want to regularly recharge quickly in between, you should take this into account. Furthermore, the mechanical disc brakes on our unit were initially adjusted in such a way that we could pull the levers very far back. We adjusted them before further rides. This applies to our delivery and is no indication that every F3 Pro is shipped this way.

A correction regarding the spoken unboxing: according to Segway, the F3 Pro D has 10-inch tires, not the 11-inch mentioned there. There is hydraulic suspension in the front and elastomer suspension in the rear. You can find the breakdown on the official F3 Pro D product page.

Range test: under what conditions did we ride?

For the separate test, we start with a fully charged battery. The route goes through normal urban traffic and contains several inclines. There are interim stops and a longer break along the way. It is therefore not an uninterrupted laboratory run at a constant speed.

  • Rider weight: stated in the video as approximately 90 kg.
  • Weather: about 32 °C, intermittent headwinds, and stronger wind toward the end.
  • Battery: standard internal 477 Wh battery, no auxiliary battery.
  • Tires: pumped up again before the ride.
  • Riding style: Sport mode, mostly full throttle on clear sections, interrupted by traffic and stops.
  • Documentation: GPS app for recording as well as the scooter's displays.

Regarding the software: Additional software is installed on our vehicle. In the video, we explicitly explain that the higher speed setting is switched off for this range ride. We do use cruise control and zero-start. Therefore, this test is not a comparison with a completely unmodified serial configuration and not a range measurement at the 35 km/h also mentioned in discussions.

Over 40 km: the result and its practical end

At 22:09 in the range video, we mention an interim status of 40.2 km, while approximately 10 percent battery is still displayed. We continue afterward; a little later we are already talking about around 41 km. We continue the ride until the display shows zero percent and there is almost no propulsion left.

For this article, we therefore confirm the verifiably documented result of "over 40 km". The last few meters are part of the trip, but not a distance during which the scooter maintains its initial speed throughout. A precise end distance with decimal places cannot be reliably taken from the final data evaluated here.

What happens when the battery is low?

At approximately 17 to 20 percent, we notice that acceleration and reachable speed decrease. We describe this from 18:39. Instead of the previously frequently displayed 22 km/h, we initially see about 20 km/h. Below about 10 percent, the difference becomes larger: at 23:01, it is about 15 km/h according to the video.

Toward the end, the scooter only moves slowly. For tour planning, we would therefore include a buffer. Anyone wanting to ride quickly throughout the entire distance should not use the range up to near-total depletion as their usable commute distance.

Performance and comfort on the longer ride

We are satisfied with the drivetrain during the test. On a longer incline, the F3 Pro still pulls powerfully even with approximately one-third charge remaining. You can see this from 16:08. We did not measure the incline; a maximum gradeability cannot be derived from this.

During this ride, we noticed no disturbing motor noises or conspicuous rattling. The footboard and suspension are a good fit for the rider, and despite the heat, we observed no shutdowns due to overheating. This does not replace a temperature measurement of the motor or a long-term test.

Navigation: no help during our ride

We try out the navigation from 10:30. We initially like the layout on the display. On the road, however, the displayed instruction no longer updates correctly: even after taking a different turn, the same distance indication remains. Furthermore, the suggested route did not convince us.

We abort the attempt. This is our observed software status in June 2025 and is not a statement that later app versions will have the same problems. For this ride, smartphone navigation was the more sensible alternative.

Manufacturer range and our result differ

Segway currently specifies up to 60 km at 20 km/h or 70 km at 15 km/h for the F3 Pro D. The described conditions include approximately 75 kg load, about 25 °C, and level paved roads. Our rider weight, weather, and route profile differ from this. Source: Segway: Range conditions and technical data.

For context, Segway also lists 500 W nominal power, 1,200 W peak power, about 19.3 kg weight, and about eight hours charging time. The German serial version is specified at 20 km/h. We do not calculate measured power consumption from the battery's rated energy and our distance alone: we did not separately record charging losses and actual energy extracted.

Our conclusion: a compelling scooter for everyday life

We like the F3 Pro for its handy design, display, comfort, and well-utilized drivetrain. The over 40 km under our test conditions clearly outperformed the skeptical assessment from the unboxing. The slow charging, the navigation problems at the time, and the power drop when the battery is nearly empty remain points that are part of the purchasing decision.

For us, it is therefore an interesting everyday and entry-level scooter, provided the size, weight, and your own route requirements match. Our result describes a single ride with the tested vehicle and the mentioned software configuration, not a guaranteed range for everyone.
