The Mangosteen FT07 looks like a cross between a bicycle and a small off-road motorcycle. After assembly and our first ride, it is clear to us: its appeal lies in its powerful electric drive, the grippy tires, and the ride feel on uneven terrain. The pedals do not make it an ordinary everyday bike. Our test vehicle does not have German road approval.

Our impression at a glance

  • Strength: powerful thrust, even when starting on an incline.
  • Comfort: We like the suspension and the seating position during the ride.
  • Grip: The chunky tires provide plenty of hold on loose surfaces.
  • Weaknesses: complex assembly and clearly audible chain slap.
  • Open: no reliable GPS top speed and no complete range test.

Unboxing: solid impression, but not a quick assembly

When unpacking, the frame and build quality seem decent to us. However, assembly takes us longer than with our Mangosteen M1P. Among other things, we have to deal with the rear suspension, the chain, and sorting out the screws. We did not find any instructions in our box. This describes our delivery and does not necessarily apply to every order.

Plan your time accordingly for assembly and use the manufacturer's instructions that come with the vehicle. Our unboxing also documents our searching and failed attempts; it is not an assembly guide. You can see the material impression and the steps leading up to the first power-up in the video from August 18, 2026.

Off-road riding: plenty of thrust and comfortable suspension

When accelerating, the FT07 pushes powerfully in our opinion. Even with the throttle only partially open, it feels lively. The good grip of the 17-inch knobby tires on loose surfaces complements this well. On bumps, the suspension works pleasantly during our ride, and the brakes also give us a good impression. We did not determine any measured acceleration time or braking distance from this.

When starting on an incline from 7:26, the FT07 also handles it well. However, the incline was not measured. Neither maximum climbing ability nor an objective comparison with more expensive motorcycles can be derived from this.

We find the seating position comfortable, and the vehicle overall quite compact. In the unboxing, we wouldn't have minded slightly larger dimensions. Anyone who is particularly tall should therefore pay close attention to the measurements before buying and, if possible, take a seat test.

What bothers us: the chain is clearly audible

On rough sections, we repeatedly notice rattling or slapping of the chain. You can hear this, among other things, from 3:10 in the ride video. Especially because the FT07 otherwise rides pleasantly, this noise remains a point of criticism. We did not check in these two videos whether other settings or a later change to the vehicle would help.

Correctly interpreting battery, range, and speed

For the FT07, the manufacturer specifies a removable 60V battery with 25Ah or 1,500Wh as well as 2,500W rated power and 3,000W peak power. These are product specifications, not measured values from our ride. You can find the technical data for the respective version offered on the manufacturer's page for the FT07.

We cannot yet provide our own range figure. The change in the battery display mentioned in the ride video is not sufficient to seriously extrapolate kilometers from it. Also, the high display reading for the freely rotating wheel in the unboxing is not a ridden top speed. For both, a separate, documented test would be necessary.

Who is the FT07 suitable for?

For us, it is interesting if you are looking for a compact electric recreational vehicle for suitable, expressly permitted terrain and are not put off by the assembly. We would not plan on using our test model, without German road approval, as a vehicle for daily commuting on public roads. The pedals provided do not change this classification.

Our conclusion on the Mangosteen FT07

During our first ride, the FT07 is fun primarily because of its powerful drive, grippy tires, and comfortable suspension. The assembly and chain slap cost points. Our two videos show an initial practical impression, not a long-term test. If you choose your intended use appropriately, you will find an exciting off-road vehicle here; for a purchase decision, approval, appropriate size, and individual range requirements remain crucial.
