140 euro surcharge: What does the larger battery offer?

Our calculation: For 140 euros more, you get 336 Wh of additional battery capacity. That is around 39 percent more stored energy at the cost of 1.1 kg of additional vehicle weight. The price increases by around 18 percent compared to the smaller version. This calculation describes the data sheet; it does not prove a correspondingly greater range in actual use.

When making a selection, it is worth considering three specific questions: How long is your longest regularly traveled route? Can you charge at your destination? And do you have to carry the scooter often? Those who mainly travel short distances with a reliable charging option should weigh the larger battery against the additional costs. For longer tours or if charging options are rare, the additional capacity might be more interesting. However, the higher weight is always present when carrying the device.

The range values need context

For its range specifications, ePowerFun cites, among other things, a rider weight of 75 kg, an outside temperature of 25 degrees, level smooth asphalt, and largely windless conditions. The values are therefore not a guarantee for every route. We have not measured the actual personal reserve.

Our advice for evaluation: Do not plan a daily round trip in such a way that it fully exhausts the stated maximum range. Having a charging option at your destination and a buffer in your route planning can be more important to the decision than the highest value in the comparison table.

Shared technology and German model classification

Both variants feature a front suspension fork, 500 watts of continuous nominal power, and 1,600 watts of peak power. Peak power is to be distinguished from continuous nominal power. The manufacturer lists P651 as the ABE number. The official KBA list also lists P651 for the ePF-3. This existing entry is not a new approval issued today.

You can find further criteria for your selection in our E-Scooter Buying Guide. At EscooterSkins, we are adding the ePF-3 to our model monitoring. A suitable skin template has not yet been confirmed.
